A deteriorating timber wall from an eroding hillside created a safety concern for this homeowner’s family. Hartley Bros. Landscaping, Inc. from Westfield, MA designed the new terraced retaining wall using Sienna Block in the Granite Blend manufactured by Unilock. Strata 200 Geogrid was layered within the retained soil mass to create a reinforced soil composite that will provide superior internal stability and strength. A swale was installed along the base of the slope to divert the water away from the top of the wall. Black aluminum fencing was installed on the top of the wall for additional safety. A stairway leading to the rear entrance and backyard was installed using Hollandstone Pavers in the Sierra Blend. On completion of the project, all lawn areas damaged from the construction were seeded.
